Ethel Mobley

Legends in Brief

Ethel Mobley (1920–1981), sister of drivers Tim, Bob and Fonty Flock, raced in NASCAR's earliest seasons. She was one of the first women to start a NASCAR race, competing at Daytona Beach in 1949 — part of a remarkable racing family, and of the sport's first days on the beach. She rests at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Johnston, South Carolina.
