Raymond Parks (1914–2010) was NASCAR's first championship car owner. His Atlanta-based team fielded Red Byron, winner of the inaugural Strictly Stock championship in 1949, and Parks himself was a central figure in the sport's founding meetings. Every championship owner since has followed the path Parks cut first. He rests at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
